The Prime Minister's Foreign Advisor says a decision is taken in coordination between the two countries.

The government of Nepal has announced a ban on long-distance travel for a period of time due to corona risk. But the Nepal- India Border has  been sealed down.

In a speech addressed by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday, he said that all types of long distance passenger vehicles operating across the country have been banned for some period from March 27.

Also all the international flights arriving to Nepal are canceled from chaitra 1st to chaitra 8th.

However, the government has adopted a policy of letting go of the vehicles from the border. Prime Minister Oli has said, "Traffic will be arranged along with compulsory health check-up arrangements to protect the health of the passengers traveling through the border. Necessary coordination will be made with neighboring countries in this regard. '

Despite the increasing risk of corona in India, the government has not dared to lock down the border and Transportation in the whole country is closed except the Nepal - India Border. 

Earlier, the government had proposed a proposal with the Indian side to restrict human traffic to the border and allow the supply system only.

But with no clear response from India, the government did not proceed to lock down. On Friday, Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali also spoke to Indian counterpart S Jashankar via telephone. Both the foreign ministers emphasized ease of supplies during this period.

Due to the open Nepal-India border, religious people from different states of India have not stopped coming to Pashupatinath in Kathmandu.

Questions have arisen on social media after the Prime Minister's address that the risk of Corona is on public transport within the country or even through the transport of goods to Nepal from India.

Businessmen say that not only from the Indian border but also from the Kathur and Tatopani border are also open and are transporting goods daily.

However, all the international airlines including China, India, the US, Thailand and Singapore will not be able to enter Nepal from Friday, Chaitra 9 to Chaitra 18 as the Prime Minister's address on Friday.

So, even when the government of Nepal was banning entry from 66 countries, the 5 countries were given a unique exemption.The government, which banned workers from the Gulf countries from coming to Nepal, did not block flights to five countries, including China, India, the US, Thailand and Singapore. But when the elections were closed, there was a local level dialogue with the Indian side and there was understanding at the local level. Only when we do so will it be difficult to implement it.

Therefore, in the Prime Minister's address today, we have stated clearly that it is important to manage the border. In this way, we put the language in which we both manage our borders.

The two countries agree on what to do with border crossings?

Yes. Mutual coordination. Because, border crossing is a matter of mutual interest. If there is no coordination between the two, then it is difficult to enforce that I only do one side. Therefore, the government goes ahead by coordinating with the neighbors on this.

Has there been any dialogue with India on this issue? There are reports that the Foreign Minister has also spoken to an Indian counterpart….

We are having a great conversation. There is talk from the level here, our Delhi embassy is also talking.
However, there are huge numbers of people coming to Nepal from the borders connected with India, in this case the risk of entering Corona is not increased.

Even when we do nothing, people continue to come into their consciousness. Looking at today's data, the flow has increased everywhere. Our Nepalese workers are looking for a safe place to return.

As the situation continued, did the fear of Corona spread to Nepal?

That's it. That is the risk we feel. That is why we have done more hardening in Bhairahawa, Nautuna and Krishnanagar. There has also been a bitter hardening in Birgunj, Biratnagar and Kakarbhitta. I took information from everywhere. Our borders are in many places. That is why we have designated it to come only from this place.

Since the conclusion that both governments will strictly regulate these places until the conclusion has been addressed by the Prime Minister, we now take it into action.

Something is starting to ease when the risk is low. It is currently running whether to bring the goods. It should also be coordinated.

Do we hesitate to close the border because of the supply arrangements when talking about the southern borders?

Our sensitivity is that too. Because we can't stop the supply system. Because dependency is the same for many of our items.

Another question that has arose over the government is why the rest of the country, including the US, Singapore, Thailand, China and India, were prevented from coming to Nepal from countries including the Gulf. Is it true that the Nepalese are coming from the Gulf, the big ones from the US?
